Public service announcement: ALL MENTAL ILLNESS IS VALID

This.  From a certain point of view, nothing bad has ever happened to me; my life is charmed and full of privilege.  I’m aware of it, and I’m phenomenally grateful.  It does mean, though, that when I’ve had episodes of mental illness I’ve felt guilty for not knowing why.  There is no explanation, no answer to the questions everyone asked.  I felt as though there was a piece of insight I should have and didn’t, that there was something wrong with the way I was thinking that I hadn’t managed to figure out yet.  It was, in its own way, distressing.
