This is perfect. Yes, some people don’t need medication to recover and it has been proven that therapy is more effective in the long-run than medication, which only treats the symptoms and not the cause. But some people need the medication to get to a point where they can accept therapy. Medication is made for the people on the more severe end of the scale. Somebody who doesn’t want to leave their bed because they’re so overwhelmingly depressed isn’t going to leap into a room with a psychiatrist and open up to them, and medication can help that.
Excellently put! (But I would add that sometimes biological issues can be the ‘cause’ themselves,but causation is such a thorny and difficult issue to tease apart in mental health.).
