Okay, so I get where people are coming from when they talk about how psychiatric medications are overprescribed.

They are. There are a lot of people on meds who don’t need them. I can accept that. 

But I cannot accept people making blanket statements about how if they don’t need meds, people like me don’t need meds. I’m sick of the bullshit I read and hear about how psychotherapy and psychiatry are unnecessary evil pawns of the pharmaceutical industry. 

Medications saved my life, and millions of others. They brought people like me out of institutions and into the world. They enable me to get up in the morning, and brush my teeth, and bathe myself. Without my medications, I would be a totally different, or dead, person. 

If you’re anti-meds, fine. I can’t stop you. But you better not come to me with your bullshit, because I will chew you out.
