[Trigger Warning: Panic disorder]

Comedienne and actress, Rebecca Front, opens up about her mental health problem and why she chose to encourage others to speak out through Twitter

I love this so much! I kept quiet for about 7 years (too young to understand what was happening to me). Now that I’m educated, I find that this woman is exactly right! There is no shame in having a mental illness, panic attacks are way more common than I ever thought as a child, and people are totally understanding if you help them understand! We all want to be understood and validated and it’s harder to do that when you’re living with something that not everyone experiences, but I believe the more open people are, the more others will start to understand and break down the stigma that people with anxiety are “attention whores” or “freaks”, etc. The more we talk, the more we change the hardened hearts and plugged ears and upturned noses of some people. Everyone has a story to tell, and just because something has a stigma doesn’t mean shut up about it and hide it…. it means band together with those who relate to you and break that stigma down.

This video brought me joy :)

Glad to hear it!
