From what I know, Lamictal’s usually prescribed for bipolar which is what it was prescribed to me for; specifically for my uncontrollable rage outbursts. You’ll need to drink more water than usual and as with any medication you should graduate doses; if you start or stop too rapidly you can develop a nasty rash (though it’s not common) and get some crazy, crazy mood swings. That’s all stuff you can find online or in the pamphlet they should give you with the medication itself.
Personally I wasn’t a huge fan; it did treat the extremes of my moods.. but it did so by chopping off the highs and lows of *everything*. It also hampered my creativity and passion (in my opinion); it felt kind of like it made the world a little grayscale. However my friends and family said it worked really well for me, that I was calmer and lower energy. I just didn’t like feeling suppressed. Looking back a lower dose probably would have been good, but eh.
I know several people that’ve had really great success with it though, especially as an alternative to lithium or any other drug combinations. See how it works for you, good luck (:
