Charlotte Pierce-Baker, professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and English at Vanderbilt University, has written a memoir about her son’s experience with Bipolar Disorder:
She noted that one of the reasons she was willing to go public with the story is that there is a need for greater awareness within the African American community about mental illness and treatment resources.
